Production

Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. operates the only amino acid plant largely dedicated to the North American market. The plant is centrally located in Eddyville, Iowa, near the heart of America’s vast corn belt.

Since Lysine production began in 1986, Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. has undergone numerous Lysine expansions to increase production capacity to meet the growing demand in North America.

In 2002, Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. built a world-class Threonine production plant which has undergone several expansions since startup. As a result of efforts to continually improve production processes, Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. was able to reduce the manufacturing cost of Threonine. This made Threonine supplementation economical in the majority of mainstream North American feeds. With Threonine now readily available, feed producers can continue to improve the nutritional balance of their feed formulas while further reducing diet costs.

Understanding that amino acids are part of the food supply chain, Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. is focused on product quality and safety.
